A Aliança Luso Britânica, um pacto de amizade perpétua entre os dois países, ocorreu com a assinatura do Tratado de Tagilde a 10 de Julho de 1372, sendo a mais antiga aliança diplomática do mundo ainda em vigor.

A Aliança Luso Britânica foi renovada no Tratado de Windsor em 9 de Maio 1386, após o apoio militar dos Ingleses ao rei D. João I de Portugal na Batalha de Aljubarrota, ocorrida em 14 de Agosto de 1385.
